FAQ & troubleshooting
What's the difference between AEO and GEO?
They name the same idea: optimizing content so AI answer engines can find, understand and cite it. UmbracoGEO uses “AEO” (Answer Engine Optimization) in the interface.
Do I need to change my templates?
No. Auditing, /llms.txt and schema auto-render all work without template changes. Schema injection also respects pages that already emit their own structured data.
The AEO section isn't visible after installing.
Section access isn't granted automatically. Enable AEO under Users → Groups → Administrators → Sections, then reload the backoffice. See Installation.
Which databases are supported?
All Umbraco-supported providers — SQLite, SQL Server and Azure SQL. The package never talks to the database directly, so it works with whatever your site uses.
Is licensing tied to my domain?
No. UmbracoGEO is a backend plugin and does not bind licenses to a hostname. A license is per site and per major Umbraco version.
What happens if the licensing service is down?
Your license keeps working from a cached, cryptographically-verified result for a grace period (14 days by default), so a temporary outage never locks you out.
When will the paid monitoring features be available?
Citation Watcher, Share of Voice and PDF reports are in active development. The tiers and gating are in place today; the live data integrations are shipping in upcoming releases. See Plans & feature comparison.
